Extra-curricular Opportunities
Enrichment activities such as trips, clubs, and extra-curricular opportunities are vital for a well-rounded education. They provide benefits that go beyond the classroom:
- Broaden Horizons – Trips and clubs expose students to new experiences, cultures, and ideas, helping them understand the world beyond school.
- Develop Key Skills – Activities build confidence, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills that are essential for life and future careers.
- Enhance Learning – Enrichment brings subjects to life, making learning more engaging and memorable through real-world contexts.
- Promote Wellbeing – Clubs and trips encourage social interaction, creativity, and physical activity, supporting mental and emotional health.
- Build Cultural Capital – Experiences outside the classroom help students gain knowledge and skills valued by society and employers.
- Foster Character and Values – Enrichment reinforces virtues like Kindness, Integrity, and Tenacity, helping students grow as responsible citizens.
- Prepare for the Future – These opportunities develop resilience and adaptability, equipping students for success in a rapidly changing world.
These experiences provide the students with diverse opportunities to grow and flourish. Through these strands, students develop moral virtues like respect and empathy, performance virtues such as perseverance and resilience, intellectual curiosity, and critical thinking. This integrated approach ensures that students not only excel academically but also build strong character traits that prepare them for life beyond school.

Extra-Curricular Activities
At The Prescot School, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Our wide range of extra-curricular activities allows students to discover new interests, develop talents, and build confidence while fostering teamwork, leadership, and resilience.
Students are encouraged to participate in activities that complement their academic studies and support their personal growth. Whether in sports, the arts, academics, or community service, our programmes are designed to engage, challenge, and inspire.
Pupils are able to access our extra-curricular programme at various points throughout the school day, we offer the gym or breakfast club, before school starts, and a variety of breaktime, lunchtime and after school clubs each day.
During the year more than 70% of our students have attended at least one of the extra-curricular activities on offer, and compared to national benchmarks, our provision and range of opportunities for students is much greater than in most schools.
We regularly survey our students to check that what we have on offer matches what they want, and as a result adapt and refine our provision each term to meet the needs of our pupils and increase participation and engagement.

Our Activities Include:
- Sports & Physical Activities – football, basketball, weightlifting, boxing, cheerleading, and fitness clubs.
- Arts & Creativity – music, drama, dance, visual arts, photography, knitting/crochet and craft club
- Academic & Enrichment Clubs – science club, mathematics club, STEM, robotics, century tech, homework club and language clubs
- Student wellbeing – wellbeing club, reading club, games and chess club, yoga.
- Community & Special Interest Clubs – Duke of Edinburgh, environmental club, LGBTQ+ club, food club, film club, Christian club, refereeing club.
Participation in extra-curricular activities helps students develop time-management skills, social awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility, while also creating lasting friendships and memorable school experiences.
At The Prescot School, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
What do the students say?
