It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The Prescot School, a school that has been part of Knowsley’s educational landscape for over 450 years and one that is now experiencing a period of significant and sustained transformation.

The Prescot School today is a calm, happy and purposeful environment. It is warm, welcoming and friendly. Visitors consistently comment on the strength of relationships between adults and young people and the genuine sense of care that exists throughout the building. There is a quiet confidence about the school – a culture built on clarity, consistency and high expectations.

Over the past year, we have implemented strong, embedded routines that are well known, consistently followed and understood by all. Our systems are simple, explicit and unwavering. This consistency has transformed behaviour across the school. Lessons are calm and focused. Corridors are orderly. Expectations are clear. Students understand that high standards are not about control, but about care. We often say, “If I let you off, I let you down,” because we believe that holding the line is an act of belief in every child’s potential.

This cultural shift has driven dramatic improvements in behaviour, teaching and learning. We have invested heavily in staff development, deliberate practice and instructional coaching to ensure that high-quality teaching is the norm in every classroom. As a result, attendance has improved significantly – among the strongest improvements seen nationally. Attendance is the sum of all parts: culture, belonging, safety, ambition and pride. When students want to be in school, it tells you something powerful about the quality of provision.

We are increasingly becoming the school of choice for our local community – a school families are proud to be part of. We are no longer defined by the challenges of the past. We are defined by the standards we uphold now and the ambition we have for the future. The Prescot School is a school on the rise.
