Homework

Homework is recorded and accessed online at The Prescot School using ClassCharts. Please contact vfarmery@prescotschool.org.uk or your child’s Head of Year should you experience any difficulties in accessing homework.

At the start of every term, students in KS3 will be given a Subject Knowledge Organiser (SKO). This contains the core knowledge that we expect students to remember for that topic. Students will be trained to revise using SKOs and will be set sections to learn for homework.  They will then be tested in lesson.  Committing core knowledge to their long-term memory in this way will free up their working memory, leaving it free to tackle problems without reaching cognitive overload.

In KS4, homework enables students to consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding and extend in-school learning. We encourage students to develop the confidence and self-discipline to work independently and to devote time to coursework or project work.
